USPTA show, “Solutions for your Game,” premieres on the Tennis Channel

-- Show will air April 28 at noon Eastern time --

"On Court with USPTA" is the cable TV show produced by the United States Professional Tennis Association. In this episode USPTA Professional Sophie Woorons-Johnston, Ph.D., teaches viewers solutions to common problems on the tennis court.

All players will encounter problems with their game, but knowing how to diagnose and solve those problems quickly is crucial to match success. Woorons-Johnston, Ph.D., offers up six common problems a person might encounter and recommends that players create a checklist in their mind to help find the solution for each. Whether viewers are struggling to develop power, having difficulty controlling the depth of their shot, encountering issues with their serve or are being inconsistent at the net, this episode will help viewers problem solve when they're facing pressure from their opponent.

The show covers the following:

• Ways to develop power

• Keeping control of the point

• Being consistent at the net

• Correcting the serve

• Controlling depth

Woorons-Johnston, Ph.D., earned her doctorate in sport pedagogy from the University of Georgia. She was an All-American for Clemson University and is a former world-ranked WTA player. She now owns and manages the Brookstone Meadows Tennis Club in Anderson, S.C. She is a USTA Recreational Coach Workshop National Trainer and a member of the National Cardio Tennis Speakers Team.

The USPTA became the first tennis-teaching organization ever to produce and air an educational television series on playing and teaching tennis on the Tennis Channel in 2003. Since then, more than 77 shows have been produced that provide instruction about technique, strategy and other facets of the game. All production is done in-house, which includes everything from planning and scripting, to shooting and editing, to graphics and DVD duplication. All episodes of "On Court" are now in high-definition.

Don't miss out on this episode. Tune in to the Tennis Channel on Saturday, April 28, at noon Eastern time to see the show.
