Counter arguments on why not run events

1.       There is no court availability

Counter - Though some would point to no availability; many would say that there are ways to work around this problem. If you work at a facility that has limited court availability, try approaching the head pro or general manager about hosting a one-hour free clinic to help promote the facility to the surrounding area. It is a great way to market your facility with little effort and cost.

2.       No time/scheduling

Counter - By doing an event in May with the theme of Tennis - for the health of it! you can help spread the message that USPTA and its members are joining the fight against a major problem in society today; obesity and specifically childhood obesity. If you can't do an event in May, try to do a free event in October with the ladies of your facility to help raise money for the fight against Breast Cancer Awareness month. Doing these two things will not only help your business but society's future.

3.       Don't fully understand the program/initiative

Counter - We are aware that some of our members do not understand our programs and initiatives. To combat this, USPTA has put together a Tennis Across America/Tennis - for the health of it! tool kit. With this new tool kit we hope to give our members the guidance they may need for a successful program and future events down the road.

4.       Costs/no pay

Counter - Everyone agrees that they would like to make money off of every program, initiative or event they do, but sometimes one needs to give a little in order to reap the rewards later. By doing a free event for one hour you can promote your facility, your leagues and summer programs to new people. One example is to host a free member/guest event to help share the facility with potential members.

5.       Successful/full business/Same market - doesn't reach new groups

Counter - In response to this, there are still those who believe that a person needs to continue to grow in order to keep up with competition and reach out to new markets. Failing to realize this can result in a loss in members and even your business. You are always going to have someone competing for your members and your programs. Try to stay one step ahead of the competition.
