USPTA show, “Get to the Net,” premieres on the Tennis Channel

-- Show will air October 8 at noon Eastern time --

"On Court with USPTA" is the cable TV show produced by the United States Professional Tennis Association. In this episode USPTA Professional and Grand Slam champion Hank Pfister demonstrates how to master the skill of getting to the net.

He shares tips with viewers on how best to get to the net off an approach shot and off of an opponent's second serve. For viewers who are primarily serve and volleyers, he stresses the importance of getting to the net at every opportunity, and not necessarily trying to hit a winner when approaching the net. Pfister provides pointers to viewers on learning how to approach, where to hit the volley and where to stand on the opponent's second serve to maintain the offensive, while keeping the opponent guessing in this fun episode of "On Court with USPTA."

Pfister is a former tennis player from the United States, who was a two-time French Open champion in doubles. He was ranked as high as No. 12 in the world in doubles and No. 19 in the world in singles. Pfister, who has been a USPTA P-1 since 1990, is currently the director of tennis and fitness at Stockdale Country Club in Bakersfield, Calif.

The USPTA became the first tennis-teaching organization ever to produce and air an educational television series on playing and teaching tennis on the Tennis Channel in 2003. Since then, more than 74 shows have been produced that provide instruction about technique, strategy and other facets of the game. All production is done in-house, which includes everything from planning and scripting, to shooting and editing, to graphics and DVD duplication. All episodes of "On Court" are now in high-definition.

Don't miss out on this episode. Tune in to the Tennis Channel on Saturday, October 8, at noon Eastern time to see the show. Also, all episodes of "On Court with USPTA" and more than 100 other USPTA-produced DVD titles are available for purchase online at www.usprotennisshop.com.
